During a protest that succesfully shut down the largest mountaintop demolition site in the Appalachian mountains, around 20 environmental activists were arrested and continue to be held behind bars on $500,000 combined bail. While the arrests and general protest have stayed under the radar, the San Francisco based band Trail and Ways had other plans. They’re using their new song “Mtn Tune” to call attention to destructive coal mining happening in West Virginia. The band takes advantage of having two opposite gender lead singers that weave introspective and meaningful lyrics into an upbeat dreamy record.
